New York Post<\/span> opinion October 2, 2017:<\/span> <\/a>CIA Director Mike Pompeo has just released hundreds of thousands of documents<\/a>, long withheld by the Obama administration, that were seized in the 2011 raid that killed Osama bin Laden.<\/p>\n

There are no surprise revelations \u2014 but they more fully document the years-long extensive cooperation between al Qaeda and Iran<\/strong> that was still ongoing when bin Laden met his end.<\/p>\n

And that raises even more disturbing questions about the nuclear deal Team Obama cut \u2014 and the real reason these documents weren\u2019t disclosed until now.<\/p>\n

Particularly a 19-page assessment by a senior jihadist of the Qaeda-Tehran ties: how Iran supplied \u201ceverything [we] needed,\u201d including \u201cmoney, arms\u201d and \u201ctraining in Hezbollah camps in Lebanon,\u201d as well safe haven for other jihadis.<\/p>\n

Yes, there were occasional conflicts and jealousies \u2014 but not enough to sever the relationship, which bin Laden himself described as post-2001 al Qaeda\u2019s \u201cmain artery for funds, personnel and communication.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Obama White House had this information for nearly five years before negotiating the nuclear deal \u2014 talks in which it refused to address Iran\u2019s continuing sponsorship of terror even as it agreed to provide it with more than $100 billion in sanctions relief and hostage ransom payments.<\/p>\n

Secretary of State John Kerry himself admitted that much of the money would go to supporting terrorist groups.<\/p>\n

And that includes al Qaeda \u2014 which, the documents show, was very much under bin Laden\u2019s control until the moment a Navy SEAL team took him out.<\/p>\n

To ensure passage of the nuke deal, did Obama and his CIA directors withhold anything that could undercut their claims about encouraging Iranian \u201cmoderates\u201d?<\/p>\n
