For the past four decades\u00a0the\u00a0Iranian regime has been using every means it\u00a0has to somehow demonize the Iranian Resistance movement. To tarnish the image of is viable alternative, the\u00a0People\u2019s Mojahedin Organization\u00a0of Iran\u00a0(PMOI\/MEK)<\/a>\u00a0and its\u00a0umbrella coalition National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI), the mullahs\u2019 regime has produced hundreds of movies,\u00a0published thousands of books and article,\u00a0and\u00a0hired those expelled from these two organizations to\u00a0spread rumors and false information under the pretext of \u201cformer members\u201d or \u201ccritics of the MEK and the\u00a0NCRI<\/a>.<\/p>\n

In addition, the Iranian regime has a network of so-called \u201cfriendly journalists\u201d who\u00a0misuse their journalistic cover and possibilities to\u00a0repeat the regime\u2019s allegations against its Resistance movement. Many of these so-called \u201cjournalists\u201d have been directly or indirectly hired by the regime\u2019s Ministry of Intelligence\u00a0and Security (MOIS).\u00a0Two court rulings against two internationally recognized press\u00a0organizations,\u00a0Der Spiegel<\/em><\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0the\u00a0Frankfurter\u00a0Allgemeine\u00a0Zeitung<\/em><\/a>\u00a0who\u00a0published two articles full of lies and fabrications against the MEK show the depth of the regime\u2019s demonization campaign.<\/p>\n

The regime\u2019s demonization campaign\u00a0against the\u00a0MEK\u00a0is one of the main levers of political war of the mullahs\u2019 regime\u00a0to delegitimize any opposition to the regime. In addition, this dirty campaign paves the way and justifies\u00a0the murder, torture and\u00a0imprisonment of supporters and members of the\u00a0MEK.<\/p>\n

Yet, the\u00a0Iranian regime\u2019s ongoing\u00a0demonization campaign against the MEK and NCRI shows the regime fear of the Resistance\u2019s\u00a0potential in leading the struggle for freedom inside and outside Iran.\u00a0As\u00a0the\u00a0late John Adams said: \u201cFacts are stubborn things; and whatever may be our wishes, our inclinations, or the dictates of our passions, they cannot alter the state of facts and evidence.\u201d<\/p>\n

Therefore, the more the regime and its agents pursue their disinformation campaign,\u00a0the\u00a0more they highlight the\u00a0importance of this\u00a0Resistance, because they cannot fight the reality on the ground, which is the effectiveness of the\u00a0MEK<\/a>.<\/p>\n

In this regard, during the\u00a0third day of\u00a0the\u00a0NCRI\u2019s<\/a>\u00a0\u201cFree Iran Global Summit\u201d, Ambassador Adam\u00a0Ereli, former U.S. Ambassador to Bahrain,\u00a0said: \u201cThe greatest testimony to your\u00a0effectiveness is the fact that the Iranian regime hates you so much and will stop at nothing to destroy you.\u201d<\/p>\n

I\u2019m\u00a0only sorry that I can\u2019t be there in person to share this\u00a0important\u00a0event with you.\u00a0 But, you know, it\u2019s so inspiring to see that not even the world\u2019s worst pandemic since 1918 has stopped you from assembling to remind the world that not only is there a organized and strong resistance to the clerical regime that rules Tehran today, but equally importantly, there is a government ready to take over tomorrow.<\/p>\n

And you know,\u00a0obviously, the\u00a0MEK<\/a>\u00a0has done a great deal for the people of Iran and for the world.\u00a0 But perhaps the greatest testimony to your effectiveness is the fact that the Iranian regime hates you so much and will stop at nothing to destroy you.\u00a0 And to me, that says\u2014that speaks volumes.\u00a0 It says that they consider you a threat and, frankly, whatever\u2019s bad for the Iranian regime is good for the rest of the world.<\/p>\n

We talked a lot during the proceedings about the Iranian government\u2019s use of embassies abroad, of diplomats, of intelligence, of civilian tools of government to terrorize not only its opponents, but those such as the government of the United States, such as the governments of Europe who support you and, again,\u00a0that\u2019s, to me, a testimony to the MEK\u2019s effectiveness and to the MEK\u2019s power.\u00a0 What has accelerated this hostility is in addition to what you were doing outside of Iran, is what is happening inside Iran, and we\u2019ve seen over the past year and a half that the Iranian people are both fed up with the mullahs and are rising up.\u00a0 And despite all their efforts to stop people from speaking out, to stop people from criticizing the Islamic regime and the principles of the Islamic revolution, the people of Iran, your relatives, are not stopping.\u00a0 They\u2019re going, they\u2019re stronger than ever, and it doesn\u2019t look like anything can stop them.<\/p>\n

Now, as the introducer said, I served as a U.S. diplomat in the Middle East for over 25 years.\u00a0 And I was the U.S. ambassador\u00a0to Bahrain, and I can tell you that I saw firsthand what you all know too well, that the Iranian regime has a sophisticated and coordinated plan to spread terror and violence and destabilization throughout the region.\u00a0 They, you know, they practice what they preach, and the kind of repression and violence that they use against their own people, they use against anybody who disagrees with them, whether they\u2019re Iranian or not.<\/p>\n

Now, the\u00a0MEK<\/a>\u00a0and your efforts have been instrumental in\u00a0exposing this conspiracy of terror by the\u00a0government\u00a0of Tehran over many, many years.\u00a0 And you\u2019ve had, I think, some very important successes in disrupting the Iranian regime\u2019s terrorist activities.\u00a0 And that\u2019s why, again, not only have they tried to destroy you in Iran, they\u2019ve also tried to discredit and demonize you outside of Iran.\u00a0 They have funded information campaigns against you.\u00a0 They have tried to convince journalists,\u00a0governments, think tanks, that the\u00a0MEK<\/a>\u00a0is an outlaw organization, that it doesn\u2019t represent Iranians, that it has no following inside Iran.\u00a0 Well, again, the fact that they\u2019re saying this indicates to me that the opposite is true.\u00a0\u00a0Otherwise, they wouldn\u2019t be spending all this money and effort to present a false narrative.<\/p>\n

So, where should we go from here?\u00a0 This is, I think, maybe the fourth or fifth gathering that I\u2019ve been a part of.\u00a0 And you all have been waging the struggle for a whole lot longer.\u00a0 And every year we say, \u201cNext year in\u00a0Tehran.\u201d\u00a0We\u2019re\u00a0not there yet.\u00a0 You\u2019ve heard from a lot of speakers about what remains to be done.\u00a0 You know,if I were to offer only a couple of suggestions, I\u2019d mention, I\u2019d say, number one, you know, the power of Iran lies in its people.\u00a0 And the United States and the friends of Iran and the friends of the MEK in Europe and elsewhere need to do everything they can to empower the Iranian\u00a0people\u00a0and to support their\u00a0struggle\u00a0for freedom and to support opposition movements like the MEK who are really at the, on the frontlines of trying to build a more prosperous and peaceful Iran along the lines of\u00a0Madame\u00a0Rajavi<\/a>\u2019s\u00a0Ten-Point Plan<\/a>.\u00a0 And the second thing I think we need to pay more attention to, and Senator Torricelli spoke to this, I think very eloquently, is we\u2019ve got to focus on countering the\u00a0propaganda\u00a0campaign against the\u00a0MEK<\/a>, against which you represent, against which you\u2019re doing, because in addition to trying to bomb you or murder you into silence, I think the Iranian regime is trying to\u00a0out propagandize\u00a0you.\u00a0 And what\u2019s important for us to do is to tell the truth about the Iranian opposition, to share what we see in our gatherings such as this and to allow the rest of the world to understand that the Iranian people want something better for their country, and that vision is represented by all of you and by Madame\u00a0Rajavi\u00a0and by the great work you are doing.<\/p>\n

So, let me conclude by saying congratulations for defying nature and having a gathering of this size to this importance of this\u00a0significance and impact in the most difficult of circumstances.\u00a0 It\u00a0is a reflection of\u00a0your passion, of your commitment, and of your dedication to what is a very worthy and noble cause.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
