One<\/span>\u00a0after another<\/span>,<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>Iranian officials\u00a0<\/span>acknowledge that\u00a0<\/span>their<\/span>\u00a0security forces shot and killed innocent people\u00a0during the bloody crackdown on recent\u00a0protests<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n

On December 6, 2019\u00a0<\/span>during the<\/span>\u00a0Friday prayer in the city of\u00a0<\/span>Asalam<\/span>,\u00a0<\/span>north of Iran,\u00a0<\/span>Mohammad\u00a0<\/span>Javad<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>Bagheri<\/span>, the imam of Friday prayer and supreme leaders\u2019 representative,\u00a0<\/span>called<\/span>\u00a0the protesters \u201cthugs\u201d, confessed that \u201cso many\u201d had been shot and killed in the protests an<\/span>d many of those killed were even \u201cbystanders\u201d.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cI<\/span>n the past few weeks you witnessed the chaos and anarchy that was created under the pretext of gasoline price hike, we are still suffering the consequences of that event, see how many people have lost their<\/span>\u00a0lives because of that, well, you see, in the midst of fighting no cookies are distributed, there would be shootings and bullets, and even if you are impartial and bystander, but go into the scene, it is possible that one of those bullets\u00a0<\/span>hit<\/span>s<\/span>\u00a0you, as<\/span>\u00a0it was the case with so many people who were killed, many of those who were killed might have been bystanders. Somebody was telling me that while he was hospitalized in a hospital in Tehran there was a nurse who was standing by the window of the room to\u00a0<\/span>film\u00a0<\/span>the street<\/span>\u00a0outside and she was hit by a bullet right\u00a0<\/span>in the middle of<\/span>\u00a0her forehead.\u201d\u00a0\u00a0<\/span>Bagheri<\/span>\u00a0said in the Friday prayer<\/span>.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

While the representative of\u00a0the supreme leader Ali Khamenei, confesses that \u201cso many\u201d bystanders wer<\/span>e killed, on Tuesday, December 3, 2019, the regime\u2019s officials acknowledged that security forces used firearms to crack<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>down\u202fthe demonstrations. A report on state television on Tuesday said that some of the protesters killed in the crackdown were \u201crioters wh<\/span>o ha<\/span>d<\/span>\u00a0attacked sensitive or military centers with firearms,\u201d and described how the armed forces had \u201cdeftly and vigilantly\u201d fought back against \u201chostile groups\u201d.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

On December 6, 2019, Michelle Bachelet, the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights released a\u00a0statement\u00a0<\/a><\/span>saying that she was alarmed by “the continuing lack of transparency about casualties and the treatment of thousands of detainees” during the recent protests in Iran.<\/span>\u00a0She said that the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights has video evidence showi<\/span>ng that the Iranian regime\u2019s security forces “shot<\/span>\u00a0to kill” protesters during\u202fIran’s latest wave of demonstrations.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Amnesty International reported that the number of people believed to have been killed during\u00a0<\/span>Iran\u00a0<\/span>demonstrations\u00a0<\/span>has ris<\/span>en to\u00a0at least 208<\/a>,\u00a0<\/span>based on credible reports received by the organization. The real figure is likely to be higher.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThis alarming death toll is further evidence that Iran\u2019s security forces went on a horrific killing spree that\u00a0<\/span>left at least 208 people dead in less than a week. This shocking death toll displays the Iranian authorities\u2019 shameful disregard for human life,\u201d said Philip Luther, Research and Advocacy Director for the Middle East and North Africa at Amnesty Internation<\/span>al.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

In a press briefing on Wednesday, the US State Department Special Representative for Iran Brian Hook said the\u00a0<\/span>Iranian regime \u201ccould have murdered over 1,000 Iranian citizens,\u201d in recent protests.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The main Iranian opposition group, the People\u2019s\u00a0<\/span>Mojahedin<\/span>\u00a0Or<\/span>ganization of Iran (PMOI\/MEK) has published the names of 350 people who have been killed by the regime\u2019s security forces in the protests.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The MEK Iran also\u00a0<\/span>announced that the number of protesters killed by the regime\u00a0<\/span>exceeds<\/span>\u00a01000 with<\/span>\u00a0several children\u00a0<\/span>and minors\u00a0<\/span>among the victims.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

In a statement released by the Secretariat of the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI) on Friday \u201cMrs. Maryam\u00a0<\/span>Rajavi<\/span>, President-elect of the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI), hailed the uprising\u2019s he<\/span>roic martyrs, and called on the United Nations Security Council, the European Union and its member states to condemn this horrendous mass killing by the Iranian regime and to take urgent action to stop this crime against humanity and secure the release of\u00a0<\/span>all<\/span>\u00a0those arrested. \u201c\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
