Floods that began in\u00a0northern parts of Iran<\/a>\u00a0earlier in March have quickly\u00a0spread to other areas<\/a> and at least 25 provinces across the country have now been affected by the floods<\/a>. The worst-hit provinces include those located on the Caspian Sea shores, the skirts of Zagros mountain range, and central and southern Iran.<\/p>\n

In this regard, the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI) have issued several statements including a Statement<\/a> on April 1st in which the NCRI President-elect, Mrs. Maryam Rajavi, called for independent relief effort to aid victims of floods in Iran as the mullahs inaction and incompetency are worsening the already disastrous situation of flood victims.<\/p>\n

Devastating #floods<\/a> have once again destroyed vast parts of Iran particularly in #Khuzestan<\/a> and #Lorestan<\/a>. I call on the public, particularly the youths, to form their popular councils and independently act to aid the affected people<\/p>\n

Devastating floods have once again affected vast regions of Iran, particularly the provinces of Khuzestan, Lorestan, and Ilam, submerging scores of cities and hundreds of villages under floodwaters. The criminal and corrupt ruling mullahs have not undertaken the least measures to counter the catastrophic impact of the flood, despite forecasts of heavy rain in these regions. People in many cities and villages were forced to flee their homes with no temporary shelters prepared for the vast number of victims by the ruling regime.<\/p>\n

The regime\u2019s head, Khamenei has kept mum on the destructive floods and the catastrophic consequences, while other authorities such as Larijani and Rohani as well as cabinet members and IRGC commanders stoke public anger by treating the disaster as a photo op in visits to flood-stricken regions.<\/p>\n

Parliament member from Ahwaz, Javad Khazem-Nasab, called Rouhani\u2019s visit to Khuzestan fruitless, claiming the government has sent \u201cmostly weary and faulty machinery\u201d to Khouzestan, adding that \u201clack of waterway dredging and management\u201d have led to these floods.<\/p>\n

The situation in Iran\u2019s northern regions and Golestan province and in cities like Agh-Ghola and Gomishan remains critical, despite two weeks since the beginning of floods in those regions. The regime has not undertaken minimum measures to resolve problems stemming from the flood and victims can only count on popular relief action.<\/p>\n

Mrs. Rajavi called on the Iranian nation once again, especially the youth, to form popular councils for independent relief action to bring aid to the flood victims, especially in Khuzestan, Lorestan, and Ilam. She pointed out that while the mullahs have no concern other than maintaining their shameful rule and plundering the nation, the only way to counter flood effects is national solidarity.<\/p>\n

She added that the mullahs are responsible for leaving the country defenseless in face of natural disasters by destroying the environment with irreparable deforestation, huge embezzlements, and wasting Iran\u2019s resources for repressive, terrorist and warmongering ends, and must be held accountable for the countless victims and millions of refugees caused by the recent floods.<\/p>\n
