Rouhani: Iran in War-Like State<\/em><\/h5>\n

During a meeting with officials in the southern province of Hormozgan, the Iranian President Hassan Rouhani\u00a0said<\/a>\u00a0that the country was in a \u201cwar-like\u201d state and begged Iranians to have hope in the regime.<\/p>\n

Rouhani was quick to blame anyone but the mullahs for Iran\u2019s many economic crises, even claiming that \u201clow prices\u201d were one of the reasons for the growth of the trafficking of goods, which appeared to be a desperate attempt to defend the Regime\u2019s intention to increase gas prices.<\/p>\n

He said: \u201cWhen gasoline is 300,000 Toman per liter and benzine is 1,000 Toman, obviously there will be trafficking.\u201d<\/p>\n

Iranian Oil Minister Bijan Zanganeh recently said the Regime had \u201cno other choice but to ration gas or raise gas prices\u201d and that they would raise prices \u201cas much as the people would endure\u201d.<\/p>\n

It is not clear how much gas is smuggled out of Iran due to the Regime’s secretive nature, but the government’s official website estimates that 20-40 million liters of gas are smuggled out every day, while Iran\u2019s Countering Trafficking of Goods and Currency Headquarters said the figure is 11 million liters and Zanganeh claims it is 4-5 million liters.<\/p>\n

Rouhani then blamed the ordinary Iranians who can\u2019t afford to buy meat on a number of unscrupulous sellers, after the Bandar-Abbas Friday prayer leader Gholamali Na\u2019iem Abadi said the Iranian people starvation\u00a0would only lead to rebellion and the head of Tehran\u2019s restaurants union advised that the crisis had forced a quarter of restaurants in the capital city to close down.<\/p>\n

However, in what he probably assumed was a rousing speech, Rouhani said the Iranian people “should not think of bread only,”\u00a0 which is highly reminiscent of Marie Antoinette\u2019s \u201cLet them eat cake.\u201d He called on the people to have \u201chope\u201d because this crisis would not bring \u201cthe nation to its knees\u201d.<\/p>\n

He noted that the Regime was focused on long-term plans, such as healthcare and climate change. First, obviously the mullahs are not focused on any plans\u00a0as they have failed to do anything to solve those crises so far. Second, that\u2019s not much comfort to those dying of starvation or searching through the garbage bins for food. Also, it doesn\u2019t help his case to then brag about the construction of a $68 million submarine as a \u201cgreat achievement\u201d.<\/p>\n

The Iranian opposition\u00a0wrote<\/a>: \u201cThe fact Iranian people are experiencing with their flesh and blood every day is that the source of Iran\u2019s problems is the dictatorship that stole the Iranian people\u2019s revolution in 1979 and seized the power and dragged Iran from one crisis to another. The mullahs\u2019 regime and its destructive policies, export of terrorism, and corruption have made the Iranian people furious crying for regime change.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
