The French Parliamentary Committee For a Democratic Iran\u00a0held a conference<\/a> On Thursday February 21, titled \u201cIran Perspectives 2019,\u201d calling for a firm policy vis-a-vis the Iranian regime\u2019s aggravating terrorist threats and deteriorating human rights abuses.<\/p>\n

French MP Andr\u00e9 Chassaigne, who expressed his concern about the human rights conditions in Iran was the first speaker of the meeting held at the Colbert Hall of the French National Assembly.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe human rights situation in Iran is catastrophic,\u201d Chassaigne said, drawing attention to more than 3,600 executions in Iran so-far during the tenure of Hassan Rouhani, the self-proclaimed \u201cmoderate\u201d president of the mullahs\u2019 regime.<\/p>\n

Mrs. Maryam Rajavi, President-elect of the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI), called on the French government to initiate a bold policy in the EU that supports the people of Iran and respects their struggle for freedom and democracy.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe regime\u2019s overthrow which is the desire of the people of Iran has never been so much within reach,\u201d Mrs. Rajavi said.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe mullahs are badly in need of political and commercial relations with Europe. Nonetheless, they cannot forgo terrorist operations in the heart of Europe because they are much weaker than is conceived; they do not know of any other way but to suppress and to create crisis,\u201d She explained.<\/p>\n

Mrs. Rajavi asked the attendees to look at Rouhani\u2019s record and recalled: \u201cThousands of executions; Massacres in (Camps) Ashraf & Liberty (when PMOI\/MEK members were in Iraq); Wasting Iran\u2019s revenues on wars in the region; Terrorist operations by the Ministry of Intelligence and Security, MOIS, under his command; and the Revolutionary Guards (IRGC) missile program, have impoverished the majority of the people in Iran.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cA significant development in Iran has been the formation of Resistance Units. These units are made up of members and supporters of the Iranian Resistance who mostly come from among Iran\u2019s younger and freedom-loving generation,\u201d Mrs. Rajavi added. The vast network of PMOI\/MEK Resistance Units inside Iran are encouraging the people\u2019s daily protests.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn addition to their terrorist plots, the mullahs have consistently been spreading falsities against the Iranian Resistance, fearing the impact of the PMOI\/MEK and the Iranian Resistance on the uprisings,\u201d She said.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe policy of appeasement of the mullahs must be terminated. Tying hopes to investments in and commercial deals with Iran is an illusion,\u201d she emphasized.<\/p>\n

\u201cTurning a blind eye to the Iranian Resistance is not only to the detriment of the people of Iran, but also to the detriment of the Middle East and the world who are in this way deprived of the key to the Iranian problem,\u201d Mrs. Rajavi added.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe main obstacle to Iran\u2019s progress and the main cause of wars and crisis in the region will thus be removed,\u201d she warned. \u201cWe enjoy our people\u2019s support in establishing a republic based on the separation of religion & state, gender equality, abolition of the death penalty, an independent judiciary, autonomy for ethnic groups, a foreign policy based on peaceful co-existence, and a non-nuclear Iran.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cIn this country, we value the rights of women, liberties and human rights,\u201d said French\u00a0MP Sonia Krimi<\/strong>. \u201cIn my country of origin (Tunisia), I experienced the absence of freedom. We must listen to the calls for freedom,\u201d She added.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe EU has stated that it\u2019s probable that the Iranian regime has been involved in assassinations on European soil and it is necessary that we adopt an according policy toward the Iranian regime,\u201d said\u00a0MP Herv\u00e9 Saulignace<\/strong> who\u00a0also praised the people of Iran, especially women and youth, who have had a leading role in nationwide protests that have been ongoing across Iran in the past year.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s an honor to be with you. I\u2019m here because I\u2019m a woman and under the totalitarian regime of Iran, being a woman entail suffering,\u201d said\u00a0MP\u00a0<\/strong>Sylvie\u00a0<\/b>Auconie<\/strong>. \u201cThe Iranian regime is a international problem. The Parliamentary Committee for a Democratic Iran must become more engaged.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cYou represent the true alternative, and you have our support,\u201d said\u00a0MP Fr\u00e9d\u00e9ric Reiss<\/strong> addressing Mrs. Rajavi. \u201cWe question the EU, which continues to believe in the virtues of dialog (with the mullahs\u2019 regime). I support the struggle for freedom in Iran.\u201d<\/p>\n
