Why the world should stand with the people of Iran<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

As supporters of the Iranian opposition coalition, the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI) and its main member organization, the\u00a0PMOI\/MEK<\/a>\u00a0(The People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran), rallied in Paris<\/a> on Saturday to mark the 40th<\/sup>\u00a0anniversary of the 1979 anti-monarchy revolution in Iran, they have proven once again that the Iranian people are determined to topple the mullahs\u2019 regime and relentlessly continue their struggle for freedom and democracy in Iran.<\/p>\n

Forty years ago,\u00a0 the people of Iran toppled the Shah’s dictatorship after months of protests and confrontations with his repressive forces. But the sacrifices\u00a0that the Iranian people had made in the streets of Iran and their achievements were hijacked by Khomeini and other misogynous mullahs who established a brutal dictatorship and the rule of Islamic fundamentalism and terrorism.<\/p>\n

\"\"In the past four decades, the mullahs\u2019 regime has executed hundreds of thousands of Iranians and destroyed the lives of millions of others through corruption and mismanagement of the country\u2019s economy.<\/p>\n

The Iranian regime has squandered the country\u2019s wealth and assets to spread terrorism, sectarianism and Islamic fundamentalism to the neighboring countries and across the globe, and to build weapons of mass destruction to guarantee its own existence.<\/p>\n

The question now is, after 40 years of terror and violence under the rule of the mullahs, what do the people of Iran want? That question was clearly answered on February 8, thousands of Iranians and supporters of the Resistance (NCRI & PMOI\/MEK) rallied in Paris<\/a>\u00a0on February 8, starting in\u00a0 Denfert Rochereau Square in Paris and ended at Les Invalides in front of the French National Assembly\u00a0to echo the voices of their compatriots inside Iran who have been demonstrating for their most basic rights in the past 13 months.<\/p>\n

The demonstrators made it clear that the only solution to the problems of the Iranian people is is a democratic regime change by Iranian people and their organized resistance, a cry that has been echoed across Iran in the past year.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe people of Iran expect the international community to respect their struggle and recognize their high goal of liberating Iran and the entire world from the evil and mischief of the mullahs\u2019 religious fascism,\u201d said Mrs. Maryam Rajavi, the president-elect of the NCRI, in her televised speech to the gathering.<\/p>\n

Mrs. Rajavi also reminded in her speech that Western governments\u2019 appeasement policy toward Tehran has so far aided and abetted the Iranian regime in avoiding its inevitable collapse and toppling at the hands of the Iranian people. In the past two decades, the western governments’s general approach has been to contain the threats posed by the Iranian regime by giving the regime concessions at the expense of the Iranian people and their organized opposition movement, the PMOI\/MEK.<\/p>\n

From turning a blind eye on the protests and justified demands of the Iranian people to designating the MEK as a terrorist organization, western governments had done everything they could to curry favor with the mullahs ruling Iran. But to their dismay, that policy not only has\u00a0 not resulted in changing the behavior of the Iranian regime but it has now brought the mullahs’ state-backed terrorism within their own borders.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur question to those who are still persisting in their worn-out policy of appeasement towards the mullahs is why do you want to prolong the suffering of the people of Iran and other nations in the region? Is it not enough? Indeed, what does it take for you to learn your lessons from the mullahs\u2019 savage terrorism in recent months in the heart of Europe and in the U.S.?\u201d Mrs. Rajavi said.<\/p>\n

In the past year, the Iranian regime\u2019s terrorist and espionage activities in European countries has intensified raising concerns among European politicians leading to limited measures by European authorities against some Iranian officials and entities.<\/p>\n

Mrs. Rajavi stressed that the key measure to restore freedom in Iran and achieve peace and stability in the Middle East and across the world is recognizing the right of the Iranian people to resist against the mullahs’ regime.<\/p>\n

A good place to start is for the U.S. and EU to designate the Iranian regime\u2019s Ministry of Intelligence (MOIS) and Revolutionary Guards (IRGC) and all their affiliates and front organizations as terrorist entities and to impose the severest sanctions on them. These are two of the main entities that are propping up the tyrannical rule of the mullahs. By handicapping them, the international community will deprive the Iranian regime of two important implements it has used to suppress protests and dissidents inside Iran and spread terrorism and fundamentalism across the world.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Iranian people and Resistance do not want this regime to have any bullets, or sell any barrel of oil, or spend a single dollar of the Iranian nation\u2019s wealth on suppression and terrorism,\u201d Mrs. Rajavi said. \u201cThe objective of the Iranian people and their Resistance is to overthrow the regime in its entirety. The goal is freedom, democracy, and the sovereignty of our people\u2019s republic.\u201d<\/p>\n

Mrs. Rajavi\u2019s remarks were echoed by other speakers at the event, including politicians from Europe and the Middle East.<\/p>\n

\u201cAll European governments, open your eyes. Restore the dignity of your countries. Support the Iranian Resistance. Stop following your economic interests at the expense of your dignity,\u201d said former French Senator Jean-Pierre Michel. \u201cSupport the people who are fighting for democracy in the streets of Iran. There\u2019s a democratic alternative for Iran that must be supported. Tomorrow, there will be in a free Iran.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Iranian regime is serious in saying the movement led by Mrs. Rajavi is a real threat to its rule. The Iranian regime has escalated its terrorist activities, its support of terrorist groups in the Middle East and its development of ballistic missiles,\u201d said former European Parliament Vice-President Alejo Vidal-Quadras.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

The European Union must once and for all put an end to its appeasement policy and support the Iranian Resistance by blacklisting the entire MOIS and IRGC, Vidal-Quadras said. \u201cI\u2019m very hopeful that we will soon see the end of the mullahs\u2019 regime.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Iranian people have spoken their desire and will. It is regime change in Iran. It is now up to the international community to make its move.<\/p>\n

Furthermore, the coverage provided by dozens of global and Middle East news agencies\/media outlets for this demonstration, and the syndication of these reports across the globe, provide a very telling image of the NCRI\u2019s political, social and international influence.<\/p>\n

Holding such a massive rally on the doorsteps of the upcoming Warsaw conference sends a very clear message by Iranians to the international community, expressing their readiness to bring about sweeping changes in Iran and also demanding an end to the appeasement policy practiced vis-\u00e0-vis the Iranian regime as the world\u2019s number one state sponsor of terrorism.<\/p>\n

This large rally, parallel to widespread coverage provided by the global media demonstrating the NCRI\u2019s organized capabilities, show how even the slightest possibility of true political freedom in Iran would prove the practical solution for real change in Iran is procured through an organized resistance movement.<\/p>\n

The Iranian people have once again voiced their will to the world on ending the Iranian regime\u2019s support for terrorism across the Middle East. This includes ending crises in Syria, Yemen, Iraq and beyond. Peace and stability across the region can only be rendered through the toppling of the religious fascism ruling Iran.<\/p>\n

Through this rally the Iranian people have shown once again how Iranian regime founder Khomeini and his mullahs\u2019 regime hijacked the 1979 revolution. Despite this unspeakable treason, the Iranian people are reiterating the true message of the 1979 revolution being the cause of establishing freedom and democracy in Iran.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
