Iran – Nov. 19, 2018: Workers of Haft Tappeh Sugarcane continued\u00a0their demonstration<\/a> at the factory today (November 19) and staged protest rally in the city of Shush chanting anti-government slogans and demanding their unpaid wages.<\/p>\n

The protesters marched toward the city proper and gathered in front of the mayor\u2019s office demanding release of their colleagues and representatives who were arrested by the Iranian regime\u2019s security forces following yesterday’s protest<\/a> rally.\u00a0 (Watch a Video of the Yesterday’s Protest<\/a> Here). This is the 15th day of the strike and protests by the workers who have not received their salary for 4 months.<\/p>\n

\"\"On Sunday, at the end of the day\u2019s protests, the security forces of the Iranian regime arrested the representatives of the protesting workers along with a number of other workers and transferred them to the security police headquarters detention.<\/p>\n

In an act of defiance to the regime\u2019s attempt at intimidation and threats, the angry protesters chanted: \u201cNeither threats nor prison no longer has any effect.\u201d They also chanted: \u201cImprisoned workers must be freed!\u201d<\/p>\n

Mrs. Maryam Rajavi, President-elect of the Iranian Resistance, saluted the striking workers<\/a> and called on all youth, especially in Khuzestan, to support the uprising of Shush and the Haft Tappeh and Ahvaz Steel strikers, and urged international human rights defenders and labor and trade unions to take urgent action to release the workers immediately and condemn the repressive measures of the Iranian regime against the workers.<\/p>\n

“The enemy attempts in vain to silence the Haft Tappeh deprived workers by suppressing and arresting them, but the cry of “we are hungry, hungry” of the children of Shush, calls the conscience of every human being to rise up against the oppressor mullahs,” Mrs. Rajavi said.<\/p>\n
