U.S. Sanctions May Work On Iran Regime But Ultimate Solution Is Recognizing Iranian Resistance\u00a0<\/a><\/span><\/h3>\n

On November 2, two days before the re-imposition of \u201cthe toughest sanctions ever on Iran\u201d as described by the White House, against this rouge regime, Secretary of State, Mike Pompeo, and Secretary of Treasury, Steven Mnuchin held a news conference on Friday declaring that sanctions would target Iran’s critical sectors including shipping, financial and energy.<\/p>\n

Mike Pompeo told reporters of various news agencies: \u201cOur ultimate aim is to compel Iran to permanently abandon its well-documented outlaw activities and behave as a normal country.\u201d Pompeo pointed to Iranian missile development and its involvement in conflicts across the Middle East, as well support for terrorism and assassinations of dissidents in Europe.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Which sectors are covered by sanctions<\/strong><\/p>\n

The sanctions are the second batch (of sanctions that) the U.S. administration has re-imposed since Trump withdrew from the nuclear accord in May. They cover Iran\u2019s shipping, financial and energy sectors (AP News, November 3, 2018). It is important to know that the sale of food, medicine, medical devices and agricultural commodities to Iran are not and have never been sanctioned, <\/strong>according to Brian Hook, the U.S. Special Representative for Iran.<\/p>\n

Addressing the reporters<\/a> present\u00a0at the news conference, Mr. Mnuchin said that while banks will be allowed to conduct humanitarian-related transactions with Iran, they \u201cmust be very careful that these are not disguised transactions.\u201d<\/p>\n

Having in mind regime\u2019s recent terrorist activities, especially in European soil and also in the United States, it is obvious that Mnuchin\u2019s intention has been to highlight the mullahs\u2019 regime terrorist activities.<\/p>\n

In this context, reliable sources informed\u00a0Asharq Al-Awsat<\/a>\u00a0that the European intelligence bodies have foiled 10 assassination attempts against opposes of the Iranian regime throughout the past year.<\/p>\n

After arresting MOIS agents in Europe and US in the course of foiled terror plots and terror conspiracies against the Iranian opposition, especially the PMOI\/MEK members in Albania, France and the United States, this reminder of John Bolton,\u00a0US National Security Advisor who\u00a0stated <\/a>at Alexander Hamilton Society, was well averred: \u201cIn terms of the terrorism behavior of Iran (regime), you know Ronald Reagan designated Iran (regime) is the first state-sponsor of terrorism, and what they are engaged now, outright terrorism as a state itself. These are not sponsoring terrorism; these are terrorist planning.\u201d<\/p>\n

Last week, Denmark has “accused Iran\u2019s intelligence agencies of planning to assassinate an Iranian activist on Danish soil.” As Secretary Pompeo tweeted: “For nearly 40 years, Europe has been the target of Iran-sponsored terrorist attacks.”<\/p>\n

Sanctions are not ultimate solution\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

In fact, the evidence displays that while Iranian regime has failed to keep a tight rein on the Iranians\u2019 protest and uprising inside the country, the regime seek to strike the PMOI\/MEK<\/a>\u00a0as the mullahs\u00a0arch-enemy<\/a>\u00a0and the heart of the organized resistance (NCRI<\/a>) abroad.<\/p>\n

\"\"No need to say that as much as the Iranian regime has debilitated, the organized resistance led by\u00a0President-elect Maryam Rajavi<\/a>\u00a0has gained more achievements in the course of a free and democratic Iran.
