{"id":12324,"date":"2018-10-28T17:09:35","date_gmt":"2018-10-28T21:09:35","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.irandemocratic.org\/public_html\/news\/?p=12324"},"modified":"2018-10-28T17:15:22","modified_gmt":"2018-10-28T21:15:22","slug":"iran-imprisoned-teachers-union-activist-on-hunger-strike","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.irandemocratic.org\/public_html\/news\/12324\/","title":{"rendered":"Iran: Imprisoned Teachers Union Activist On Hunger Strike"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Following abduction of the teachers\u2019 union activist, Hashem Khastar, in the city of Mashhad (northeast Iran) by the Revolutionary Guards (<a href=\"http:\/\/irannewsupdate.com\/news\/terrorism\/3612-getting-to-know-iran-s-revolutionary-guards.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">IRGC<\/a>) intelligence and exposure of the abduction, he was transferred and confined in a psychiatric hospital where his wife and child were finally permitted to visit him.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOn Thursday, I went to the courthouse for permission to visit my husband, Mr. Seyed Hashem Khastar, in Mashhad\u2019s Ebn Seena Hospital. There was no file or records about his arrest. I spoke to the deputy public prosecutor about my husband\u2019s arrest and he said they had not issued any orders for his arrest. I then spoke with another deputy public prosecutor and he said we had not given any orders (to arrest him) either. I received the same answer from the Intelligence Ministry, the IRGC intelligence and the police,\u201d Mrs. Sediqeh Maleki-Fard said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Social Emergency unit arrested him outside his orchard and took him straight to the Ebn Seena Hospital. They took blood from him and gave him an injection\u2026 Considering the fact that my husband\u2019s life is in danger in this psychiatric hospital, he must be released immediately,\u201d she continued.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe was completely healthy and after retiring spent many of his days farming. The only medication he consumed were blood pressure pills. Khastar being hospitalized in an emergency section of a special facility for psychiatric patients means [the authorities] injected a special type of medication with the intention of killing him, or he had been severely injured under torture or during his arrest,\u201d Mrs. Maleki added.<\/p>\n<p>Mrs. Maleki-fard issued a call to her compatriots asking them to raise the issue of her husband\u2019s arrest with the Iranian regime\u2019s judiciary and demand his release.<\/p>\n<p>The National Council of Resistance of Iran (<a href=\"http:\/\/ncr-iran.org\/en\/about\/our-resistance\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">NCRI<\/a>) has been <a href=\"https:\/\/english.mojahedin.org\/i\/iran-regime-arrested-and-summoned-teachers-kidnapped-hashem-khastar-and-chained-him-bed-psychiatric-hospital\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">calling<\/a>\u00a0on all international human rights organizations to see into this matter and urge the Iranian regime to release Mr. Khastar.
