{"id":12223,"date":"2018-10-22T10:55:27","date_gmt":"2018-10-22T14:55:27","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.irandemocratic.org\/public_html\/news\/?p=12223"},"modified":"2018-10-22T10:55:27","modified_gmt":"2018-10-22T14:55:27","slug":"escalating-protests-and-strikes-in-iran","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.irandemocratic.org\/public_html\/news\/12223\/","title":{"rendered":"Escalating Protests and Strikes in Iran"},"content":{"rendered":"<pre>As teachers across Iran continue their nationwide strike for the second consecutive day on October 1st reaching more than 103 cities and truckers forced regime officials to succumb to three of their demands after\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.irandemocratic.org\/public_html\/news\/12058\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">three weeks of strikes<\/a>, more reports are coming from numerous cities across Iran about people from all walks of life holding a\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/english.mojahedin.org\/i\/iran-tehran-university-students-rally-during-rouhanis-speech\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">variety of rallies<\/a>.<\/pre>\n<p>While the Iranian regime is facing escalating social, economic and political crises, <a href=\"https:\/\/english.mojahedin.org\/i\/iran-latest-report-protests-strikes\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">reports<\/a> from inside Iran indicate that\u00a0more people from all walks of life are holding strikes and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/english.mojahedin.org\/i\/protests-strikes-spreading-across-iran\">protest rallies<\/a>\u00a0in numerous cities throughout the country with each day passing.<\/p>\n<p align=\"left\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-12226 alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/www.irandemocratic.org\/public_html\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/College-Students-Protest-In-Tehran-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.irandemocratic.org\/public_html\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/College-Students-Protest-In-Tehran-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.irandemocratic.org\/public_html\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/College-Students-Protest-In-Tehran-678x509.jpg 678w, https:\/\/www.irandemocratic.org\/public_html\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/College-Students-Protest-In-Tehran-326x245.jpg 326w, https:\/\/www.irandemocratic.org\/public_html\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/College-Students-Protest-In-Tehran-80x60.jpg 80w, https:\/\/www.irandemocratic.org\/public_html\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/College-Students-Protest-In-Tehran.jpg 690w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/>In Tehran, a group of Ph.D. students from universities across the country rallied in the country\u2019s capital, protesting the lack of foreign currency based on government rates as promised by education officials. This Saturday rally outside the Ministry of Sciences building was held despite threats issued by education officials.<\/p>\n<p align=\"left\">Also\u00a0in Tehran, clients of the Sekeye Thaman credit company rallied on Saturday outside the public prosecutor\u2019s office, demanding their stolen savings returned.<\/p>\n<p>A group of firefighters in the city of\u00a0Shadegan in southwest Iran rallied outside the\u00a0Khuzestan governor office demanding higher paychecks. These individuals were protesting on behalf of 300 employees working for the firefighting service and demanding paychecks that are delayed for the past nine months.<\/p>\n<p align=\"left\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-12225 alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/www.irandemocratic.org\/public_html\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/Tehran-Plundered-Clients-of-Sekeye-Thaman-Credit-Company-300x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.irandemocratic.org\/public_html\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/Tehran-Plundered-Clients-of-Sekeye-Thaman-Credit-Company-300x300.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.irandemocratic.org\/public_html\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/Tehran-Plundered-Clients-of-Sekeye-Thaman-Credit-Company-250x250.jpg 250w, https:\/\/www.irandemocratic.org\/public_html\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/Tehran-Plundered-Clients-of-Sekeye-Thaman-Credit-Company.jpg 690w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/>Clients of the\u00a0Kuye Farzan credit company\u00a0in Tehran rallied outside the district mayor\u2019s office. The protesters were seen holding a banner written: \u201cWe are requesting houses and criminals to be handed over to the judiciary.\u201d<\/p>\n<p align=\"left\">The\u00a0Tuli Press Company in Qazvin\u00a0has come to a complete standstill. The 370 employees have been banned from entering the site since Saturday.
