On Sunday, October 14, Iranian teachers from over 50 cities across the country launched a\u00a0nationwide strike<\/a>\u00a0protesting poor economic and living conditions and heavy security measures imposed in their schools. The protesting teachers are also demanding the release of their imprisoned colleagues. Students in various cities are showing support for their protesting teachers.\u00a0A<\/span>s\u00a0the nationwide strikes continue to grow, the flare of public anger and hatred towards the mullahs regime gradually\u00a0widens more than before.<\/p>\n

Teachers in the cities of Paveh, Islamabad-e Gharb, Yazd, Kermanshah, Shiraz, Marivan, Mashhad, Ilam, Gonabad, Torbat-e Heydariyeh, Tabriz, Amol, Garmeh, Lamerd, Sanandaj, Saqqez, Tehran (Quds Town), and\u00a0Sarvabad are on strike.<\/p>\n

Other cities on strike include Mahabad, Khorramabad, Firouzazbad, Zarrin Shahr, Bojnourd, Javanrud, Sari, Karaj, Ivan-e Gharb and a number of other towns and cities.<\/p>\n

Since anti-government demonstrations erupted throughout Iran in December, strikes have become a popular way for citizens of different walks of life and social classes to protest against the corruption and inefficiency of the Iranian regime.<\/p>\n

This is the second round of strike by Iranian teachers in a year. Earlier this year, teachers across the country\u00a0took to the streets<\/a> to protest\u00a0against discrimination, imprisonment of political activists and economic woes. This round of strikes by teachers is happening in parallel to a widespread strike by truck drivers<\/a> across the country, which\u00a0has lasted for\u00a0more than three weeks<\/a>\u00a0and has expanded to more than 310 cities across the country. Last week, a separate\u00a0strike by merchants and shop owners<\/a>\u00a0reached dozens of cities.<\/p>\n
