The “No to Executions Tuesdays” campaign continues to grow as it enters its 58th week, now spanning 38 prisons across Iran. The movement, which began in January 2024, has gained significant momentum, with detainees organizing weekly acts of defiance against the Iranian regime’s systematic execution of political prisoners and other detainees.

The latest addition to the campaign is Miandoab Prison, where prisoners have declared their participation in the movement against the Iranian government’s escalating execution spree.

In their weekly statement, the prisoners taking part in the campaign warned that in just the past two weeks, the Iranian regime has executed 85 people. In the past week alone, at least 53 people have been executed, 24 of whom were Kurdish and Baluch citizens. One person was barbarically hanged in public in Esfarayen, a city in North Khorasan Province.

“These brutal executions, especially on the verge of Nowruz (Persian New Year), which causes hundreds of our compatriots to mourn, accurately demonstrate that this medieval regime has no goal other than to create terror in society,” the prisoners wrote. “It only seeks to postpone its end by repression, torture, and execution.”

In response to these acts of state-sponsored violence against the defenseless people of Iran, many compatriots and freedom-loving people throughout Iran and the world, along with committed prisoners in various prisons, have joined the “No to Execution” campaign in Iran and condemn the criminal executions in Iran.

The campaign announced that last week, a group of prisoners in Miandoab Prison in East Azerbaijan Province announced that they would join the “No to Execution Tuesdays” campaign and go on a hunger strike in protest against the death sentences, starting on Tuesday, March 4, 2025.

“Once again, and more than ever, we call on the awakened consciences of the world to take more serious and urgent measures to stop this killing machine,” the prisoners wrote.
