
Iran Protest-No. 86
Thursday, October 27, 2022, marked the 42nd day of the nationwide uprising and the 40th day of Nika Shakarami’s murder by the security forces. People across Iran took to the streets and protested, chanting anti-regime slogans such as “Death to the dictator,” “Death to Khamenei,” “This year is a year of sacrifice, Seyyed Ali (Khamenei) will be overthrown,” “Mullahs must get lost,” “Death to the Supreme Leader after many long years of crimes,” “Death to the oppressor, be it the Shah or the Leader (Khamenei)” and “Death to the child-killing government.”
In Khorramabad, western Iran, a large crowd protested at the site of Nika Shakarami’s grave, chanting, “Death to the dictator,” “Death to Khamenei,” “This year is a year of sacrifice, Seyyed Ali (Khamenei) will be overthrown,” and “We are all Nika, fight and we fight back!” The suppressive forces opened fire at the people but were pushed back by the people’s brave resistance. The people of Borujerd paid tribute to Nika Shakarami in a large demonstration chanting, “Mullahs must get lost.” They carried a banner reading, “Nika, we will take your revenge.”
In Mahabad, western Iran, people took to the streets on Thursday morning and clashed with suppressive forces in some parts. The protests ensued in the afternoon as security forces opened fire on the protesters. People took over the police station and the Governorate’s office. Suppressive forces killed and wounded several youths in the city.
On Thursday, various areas in Tehran, including Tehranpars, Shahrara, Hemat, Hashemi Street, Farjam Saraj Street, Abazar Street, Shahid and Chitgar townships, Heravi Square, Tehransar and Robat Karim, were scenes of demonstrations and clashes with the suppressive forces all day through late at night. The youth held a nightly demonstration in Shahrara, chanting, “This is the Aban movement; the dictatorship is coming to an end.” In Majidieh, youths staged a nightly demonstration, and the regime’s suppressive forces conducted house-to-house searches to arrest protesters. Youth throw Molotov Cocktails and set fire to paramilitary Basij base 307.
In Isfahan, doctors staged a protest outside the building of the regime’s Medical Council. A demonstration led by women took place in Mashhad’s Ahmadabad Blvd. In Amol, the suppressive forces opened fire on the people, and protesters clashed with them. In the cities of Baneh, Dehgolan, Bukan, Mashhad, Rasht, Khorramabad, Piranshahr, Kamyaran, Malek Shahr of Isfahan, Fuladshahr, Borujerd, Borujen, Arak, Tonkabon, Juneqan, Andimeshk, Lahijan, Astara, Amol, Bandar Abbas, Kermanshah, Karaj, Ahvaz, Abadan, Shush and Shahryar, people, and youth staged nightly demonstrations, blocked the streets by lighting fire and engaged in hit-and-run clashes with the suppressive forces. Students protested in the universities of Tehran, Shiraz, Isfahan, Karaj, and others.
In Rasht, northern Iran, people protested and clashed with suppressive forces for hours; youths blocked the roads by lighting a fire in Moalem and Sabrin neighborhoods. In Saveh, southwest Tehran, protesters set fire to large billboards of Khamenei, Khomeini, and Qasem Soleimani. In Piranshahr, western Iran, protesters blocked the road by lighting fire and torching a vehicle of the suppressive forces. In Hamedan, western Iran, youths clashed with suppressive forces chanting, “Shame on you! Shame on you!”.
